Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy and Technology - Multimedia University of Kenya

Renewable energy refers to energy from naturally replenishing sources, such as the sun, wind, water, biofuels or the earth’s sub-surface (geothermal energy). These types of energy sources, like non-renewable energy sources, require technology for harnessing. Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy and Technology offers an opportunity to the students to study the Physics of the Renewable Energy Sources, the Renewable Energy and the Technologies involved in harnessing the different forms of Renewable Energy. This programme will produce graduates capable of applying Renewable Energy Technologies in harnessing Renewable Energy and pursue careers in the field of Renewable Energy either at postgraduate level or as a consultant.

The demand for renewable energy is ever increasing owing to its non-environmental pollution and the diminishing non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels. As a result, expertise in harnessing and application of renewable energy is a vital demand in Kenya. It is on this background that Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy and Technology has been developed.
Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy and Technology degree program at Multimedia University of Kenya, graduates will get employment opportunities as energy technicians, energy resource analysts and energy efficiency technician among others. Graduates may aim at starting Renewable energy consulting firms or even uniquely tailored companies focused on serving either residential or business energy needs. The technology aspect of this degree program offers a flexible path for graduates by enabling them to compete for supervisory and management positions within the renewable energy industry.
