About CODEL

The Centre for Open, Distance, and E-Learning (CoDEL) at Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) was established as part of the university’s commitment to leveraging ICT for education. Recognizing the need for flexible and accessible learning, MMU made a strategic decision to integrate digital technology into its teaching and learning processes, as outlined in its statutes.

CoDEL is dedicated to expanding access to quality education, enabling students to learn regardless of their geographical location. By utilizing advanced internet and digital learning technologies, we empower learners with the knowledge and skills needed in today’s technology-driven world.

CODEL’s  mandate

• To support blended mode of learning across the entire University.
• To support faculties offering University Common Units (UCUs);
• To maintain the Learning Management System (LMS) popularly known as the e-learning platform.
• To train all lecturers and support them on e-content development.
• Through our call centre, we support distance learners as well as walk-ins, or e-mails, to all LMS users.

Our Key Functions

• Student Orientation & Support – Guiding and assisting students as they transition into online learning.
• Ongoing Learning Support– Providing continuous assistance throughout students’ academic journey, including evaluation.
• Faculty Capacity Building– Equipping faculty with skills for effective online teaching and learning.
• E-Content Development – Supporting faculty in creating high-quality digital learning materials.
