FKF explores strategic partnership with MMU for world-class stadium construction

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is seeking a strategic partnership with Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) to develop a world-class stadium within the university’s premises. This move comes after the government identified MMU as one of the institutions to benefit from the construction of modern stadiums due to its strategic geographical location.

This ambitious initiative is envisioned to enhance the institution’s sports infrastructure, promote talent development, and position MMU as a regional hub for competitive sporting events.

In a consultative meeting held yesterday, FKF was represented by the Vice Chair of the Infrastructure Committee, Mr. Jecton Obure, and Mr. Frank Ogolla, Head of Leagues and Competitions. The delegation engaged with the university’s top leadership, including Chair of the University Council  Dr. Albert Kochei, Council member Dr. Beatrice Tonui, Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Geoffrey Kihara, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Research and Innovation Prof. Livingstone Ngoo, Registrar, Administration and Planning Dr. Cornelius Mutangili, Dean of Students Dr. Paul Obonyo.

The proposed stadium is expected to serve both academic and professional functions by offering a state-of-the-art venue for sports education, training, research, and national competitions. It will also provide Multimedia University students with access to world-class facilities, strengthening the institution’s co-curricular profile and fostering stronger university-industry collaboration.

This partnership aligns with the university’s strategic goals of academic programme expedition, infrastructure development, and community engagement, while also supporting FKF’s mission to nurture football talent across the country through modernized sports infrastructure.

Mr. Jecton Obure affirmed that the Federation, in collaboration with the Government and the Multimedia University of Kenya administration, is committed to initiating the project promptly and ensuring its timely execution.

Further deliberations and technical evaluations will be conducted to define the scope, framework, and implementation timelines of the proposed project.
