MMU explores strategic collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports

The Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) Council, led by Chairman Dr. Albert Kochei, and the university management led by Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Rosebella Maranga paid a courtesy call to Cabinet Secretary, Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen to explore strategic collaborations and partnerships in the areas of sports, creative arts, innovations, and education.

During the meeting, CS Murkomen underscored the importance of collaboration between the Ministry and universities in developing all-rounded and more accomplished athletes.

“Collaboration between universities and the Ministry is essential in creating accomplished athletes who succeed on the field and in the classroom. Our Rugby Union has demonstrated the success of integrating sports and education, and we aim to replicate this in other disciplines,” he stated.

Dr. Kochei was flanked by other members of the Council, highlighted the university’s focus on fostering strategic partnerships in sports, creative arts, innovations, and education as part of the university’s long-term vision to contribute to the Government’s broader agenda.

MMU Ag. VC Prof. Maranga said the strategic location of the university and available space within the institution not only make it unique for various sporting activities but also a preferred university in training, nurturing, and developing the country’s talent in creative arts through programmes in film production and animation.

This collaboration signals an exciting step forward in creating new opportunities for MMU students and Kenyan athletes to excel in both their sporting and academic endeavors through the joint efforts of the university and the Ministry.
