Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Rosebella Maranga has challenged new MMU students to use their time in the university to discover their potential, and passion and create a meaningful impact in society.
The VC congratulated the new students for joining the university, saying that MMU is more than just a university, but their launching pad into the future.
“It is with great pleasure and pride that I welcome you to Multimedia University of Kenya, a vessel of innovation and launchpad for your future endeavors. On behalf of MMU management, I am deeply humbled to welcome you to a place of knowledge and innovation,” said Prof. Maranga.

Speaking during an address to the new students at the university’s graduation grounds, Prof. Maranga said MMU is a community of thinkers, researchers, creators, and doers, united by a common passion for knowledge, academic discourse, amplification of skills, and transformative power.
“MMU’s curriculum is designed to be academically rigorous and industry-relevant, ensuring that you graduate not just as degree holders, but as problem solvers, innovators, and all-rounded individuals,” said the VC.

She also challenged the students to understand that the university experience demands a higher level of dedication and effort, adding that every student is expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, ethical conduct, and respect.
“Discipline is key to success, both at the university level and in life generally. It is important to stay true to your values and academic goals,” advised the VC.

On the universities new funding model, Prof. Maranga noted that the model is an initiative that is student/program centered, aimed at ensuring accessibility to university education for all students, including the most vulnerable in society.
She advised students who feel wrongly placed in a band to seek help within the university on how to appeal for correct placement.
The VC, who was flanked by Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs, Research and Innovation Prof. Livingstone Ngoo, Deputy Vice Chancellor – Administration, Finance and Planning Prof. Geoffrey Kihara, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Institutes, and HoDs of various sections, assured all students that the university is committed to providing a supportive and conducive learning environment.
