Multimedia University of Kenya’s 4th-year bachelor of Science in Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering student – Jully Mutia was among the few Kenyans who represented the country at this year’s IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Students and Young Professionals Congress at The Plaza Hotel in Hyderabad, India.
Ms. Mutia, who is also the chairperson of IEEE club at MMU, was one of six Kenyans who received a travel grant of USD 1000 from the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society to represent the country at the premier event; designed to bring together students, young professionals, academia, and industry leaders across the globe for learning, networking, and collaboration.
Held from 25th to 27th July 2024, and themed “Green Energy Technologies: Challenges, Opportunities, and Solutions,” the event featured a range of activities, including panel discussions, poster sessions, and technical sessions, all focused on innovation in industrial automation and the application of power electronics in renewable energy.
According to Ms. Mutia, the congress offered her an unparalleled opportunity for her to network with peers and industry professionals; gain exposure to cutting-edge research, and engage in discussions that are shaping the future of engineering.
“The experience we got from the event did not only deepen our academic knowledge, but also equipped us with skills and insights necessary to tackle real-world challenges, she said, adding that the congress was more than just an academic milestone but a significant step towards contributing to a sustainable future through advancements in green energy technologies.
