Multimedia University of Kenya has kicked started the development of a new strategic plan for the period 2017 to 2021, meant to guide and steer the institution towards the realization of its vision, mission and strategic objectives.
The development process started with an inception meeting and a strategic planning presentation by the official consultant - Kenya School of Government - to the university’s strategic planning team on 27th October 2016 at MMU Administration Hall.
Speaking during the meeting, Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Finance and Planning Prof. Rosebella Maranga introduced the consultants and called upon all the staff to remain cooperative and take part in the development process.
“We have hired the Kenya School of Government to help us develop a strategic plan that suits us and is also workable for us as an institution. It is therefore important for us to come together and form one team that is focused on the same goal,” said Prof. Maranga.
The DVC said that the current strategic plan will expire in December this year and revealed that the university has already formed a Strategic Plan Steering Committee to liaise with the consultant and help move the development process forward.
On his part, Lead Consultant, Dr Robert Ng’anga said that the inception meeting and the presentation is a platform meant to give the university an overview of what is expected during the development process.
“This will be an opportunity to tell your story to the world. The plan will help you define your current situation, where you intent to go, how you will get there and what needs to be done,” said Dr. Nga’anga.
He said that the process requires a concerted effort from all staff members to create a common understating on key issues and to agree on the best way forward in coming up with a workable strategic plan.
The university seeks to become an internationally acclaimed institution recognized for the quality of its academic programmes, research and innovation. To achieve these, the institution seeks to develop a strategic plan that provides a framework through which all its goals and objectives will be achieved.
