Q: What are the term dates and other key University dates?

A: The Key important dates for the University’s Academic Calendar are as follows:

Semester Dates:September –December

January – April

May- August

January- June and July- December (for courses in International Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies (IADCS), International Diploma in Computer Studies (IDCS), CIPS, CPA and CCNA courses)

Exam Dates: (Exam dates are uploaded per semester

A: Complaints and compliments can be channeled through:

Q: Does MMU offer accommodation on campus?

A: The University offers accommodation for all government sponsored students (those who apply and register through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement System). The cost of accommodation is Ksh. 4,000 per semester for 4 sharing in a room.

If you prefer off campus accommodation there are several private accommodation options such as Hostels and Flats in the neighboring towns.

Note: Please note that the costs of facilities available are not dictated by the Institution.

Q: Does MMU offer skill based courses (short courses)?

A: MMU offers a variety of Skill Based Courses in line with our core academic specializations of engineering, computing and information technology, media, communication and business studies.

The courses vary in duration and are offered primarily at our Main Campus. However, MMU is flexible on location and the trainers can come to you or arrange a location suitable for both parties.

We also offer Bridging courses in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as well as International Computer Driving License (ICDL) which commences every Monday and is open to anyone seeking to gain basic competencies in IT.

Q: Does MMU offer part-time courses?

A: Yes, we offer Evening Classes which take place Monday to Friday from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Fees for subsequent semesters can be accessed through the Finance Officers in the Admissions Office and Room A24 in the Administration Block.

RESOURCES AND FACILITIES

Q: Who can use the MMU Library?

A: MMU Library exists to support teaching, learning and research activities. It’s collection of books, journals, Government Publications, e-books and e-journals, CDs, Audio Visuals and Newspapers are available to MMU students, staff Alumni and the general public.

New patrons are required to apply for membership contingent upon the Library’s Rules and Regulations.

Q: Who can use the MMU Dispensary?

A: MMU Dispensary provides Primary Health Care Services including Medical Consultations, Laboratory Tests, Family Planning Services, Health and Psychological Counseling, Dispensing and Minor Surgery.

It is frequented by to the staff, students, Hotel guests and members of the neighboring community.

Q: Who can use the MMU ICT Museum?

A: The ICT Museum is an exhibition of artifacts that illuminate the progression of ICT and communication throughout history.

It is open to the public at a minimal fee of KES 50 for primary and high school student, KES 80 for university students and KES 100 for adults.

Q: What services are offered by the MMU Hotel and Conference Centre?

A: The Hotel and Conference Centre provides a serene environment and cost effective packages for individuals and organizations looking for a quiet and accessible location away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The services offered include conference and seminar facilities, accommodation, indoor and outdoor catering, swimming, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath as well as lush grounds for events such as weddings and graduation parties. http://hotel.mmu.ac.ke/

Q: What services are offered by the MMU Printing and Laundry Services?

A: MMU has a fully operational Printing Press which offers quality printing services to the institution, private companies and parastatals as well as the general public.

It offers stationary services i.e. printing of Letter Heads, Business Cards, Invoice Books, Posters, Fliers, Internal Memo Pads and Cards among others. It also offers book binding and repair services.

MMU Laundry serves the students, staff, hotel guests and external clients by offering dry cleaning, ironing and pressing, spotting and stain removal, tailoring, dress making and repairs and carpet cleaning.
